October 18
I feel like I’m finally getting my feet under me. I’m going through items in the house, some Norm’s, some mine, deciding what stays and what goes. I have teary days, and days where the memories bring more smiles than tears. I feel like I’m doing more than just surviving, baby steps, but moving forward.
I’m taking a class on prayer, specifically, the prayers that Jews pray. Today dealt with morning prayer. One aspect that stood out to me, being thankful for God providing breath for another day and that each day has a purpose, something He has prepared for me to do.
When it looked like Norm would survive, he began to talk to me about what he would do with the extra days that God might give him. He was excited about the possibilities. It was a joy to watch and hear.
Where’s the joy?
I am thankful for the life Norm and I had together. His wisdom, encouragement, laughter enabled me to accomplish more than I ever thought possible.
I pray for wisdom as I step out of survival mode and look for those things that God has for me to do.
I rejoice in God who never leaves us desolate.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:4-10
